Join us on Saturday, March 14th for our first Kids Tournament!
This will be a KIDS ONLY (ages 7-14) no-gi round robin tournament and will be broken up into brackets based on closest 4 competitors in weight in each age category. All kids MUST have a waiver signed by a parent to compete.
We are looking forward to hosting a fun and positive event! Our mission is to make the path accessible and inspiring for as many people as possible, fostering a stronger, healthier society by encouraging everyone to embrace and stay committed to the path. Parking: There is plenty of parking available in the lot.
Fee: Fee to participate is donation based and can be paid at the event. Spectator fee is $10 paid at the door.
Weigh-ins: 9:30 - 10:30a the day of the event.
Brackets: These will be organized by weight (Madison style) at time of weigh-in to ensure even bracket sizes. This is a round robin tournament.
Competition: Rounds start at 11a.

Match length
3-minute matches with sudden death overtime in case of a tie for ages 7-11
Ages 12-14 will be 4 minutes
The overtime period will be an automatic continuation of the match, there will be no reset of positions. First score wins the match)
Prohibited moves
We will follow IBJJF rules for allowable submissions based on age group
Ages 12 and up WILL be allowed guilltines from inside the guard or from mount but NO standing guillotines
Scoring
Take down: 1 point. A take down will be given to the person who is in top position and in control after going from standing position to the ground. If you are taken down and get back to your feet, 1 point will be awarded once grips are broken and neutral position is achieved.
Passing to any variation of side control: 1 point. Side control includes north south. Requires 3 second pin to score.
Mount: 1 point. Requires 3 second pin to score
Reversal from bottom: 1 point. Any change in position from bottom to top will result in one point to the competitor who ends up on top after 3 seconds of control time
Sweeping from bottom directly to mount: 2 points. 1 point for the sweep, 1 point for mount.
Back with hooks: 1 additional point. A fully locked body triangle will be counted as a score-able control position
There are no advantages
Each coach will be given a towel to throw to stop the match before their student taps. Referees will not stop the match unless there is a tap, verbal or physical unless there is iminent serious damage and the towel has not been thrown yet.
